（书上说hold on有挺住的意思 没错，但是应该注意hold on 的“词性”。）
此处应该选A.came through。
注意到空后有“the night ”，故应填一个及物词性的词组。
come through 一词组可以作 及物动词组，有“度过、坚持、熬过”等意思；
而hold on 一般作不及物词组，若需加宾语，一般用“to” 连接，表“坚持、挺住（原则、主张等）”的意思。 特别地，hold on 有"（抽象事物）持续，不停止"的意思：
例句: A fierce fight held on steadily a whole day.（此处“a whole day”是状语不是宾语。）
激烈的战斗持续了整整一天。
1、前边有 disappointment，后边要填一个对应的表示消极概念的词，所以选A. negative
2、B. faded 意思是，在一次创纪录后，他就逐渐暗淡了
3、C、highly 因为 think highly of 是一个词组搭配表示高度评价
4、A. immersed 表示沉浸在什么东西中。还有用法 be immersed in 表示一样的意思
5、 B. universally 表示一致的看法，常与think、believe连用
6、 D. relief 词组to one's relief，表示让她不再担心，松了一口气
7、 D. unreliable 词reliabe表示可靠，unreliable表示不可靠，就是说年轻人觉得没房没车不踏实
8、A. secure 表示有把握，翻译：他们紧紧抱在一起，相信营救直升机在路上了。这里是secure in the knowledge...整个结构做主语补足语。
9、C. depressed 词组搭配be depressed at 因什么而沮丧，和 be disappointed about/at是一样的
