日本的桃花节，日本的女儿节又叫桃花节。“桃花节”是一个浪漫的节日，不由得让人想到“桃花运每年阳历三月三日是女孩节（雏祭り/ひなまつり）。在日本，这一天是女孩子最高兴的日子。家家户户都摆设起偶人架（雏坛/ひなだん）来，在上边摆上各式各样的古装玩偶和橘花或樱花的盆景。摆设的方法，根据习惯，各地都独具风格。陈列的玩偶，有自己制作的，也有买的，一般以姥姥家的人送来的居多。这一天，女孩子要穿漂亮的“和服”（日本传统的服装），并且邀来自己最亲密的伙伴，转帐坐在古装玩偶前，尽情地吃、喝、玩耍，愉快地欢渡节日。

据说过去在中国，小孩子出生以后，家里要做娃娃，以为孩子健康成长之兆。这个风俗在日本古代的平安朝时代从中国传来，但当时的娃娃是用竹子做骨架的，然后糊上纸做的衣服。后来就逐渐演变成了如今这样的玩偶了。
